Mississippi Power Co. (MPC) announced August 4 that the Sierra Club has agreed to drop its lawsuit against MPC’s $5.3 billion, 582-megawatt (MW) “Kemper” integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plant.

In exchange, MPC agrees to convert to natural gas or some other “non-fossil” fuel at several other coal-fired power plants, according to the company.
