One day after the Sierra Club dropped its lawsuit against Mississippi Power Co. (MPC) and the Mississippi Public Service Commission (PSC) over cost-recovery for the “Kemper” integrated-gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) project, the PSC voted unanimously August 5 to delay “prudency” hearings on the project.

However, a separate lawsuit brought by MPC customer Thomas Blanton over “construction work in progress” (CWIP) rates that PSC has allowed (so far) for the Kemper project would continue, as Blanton newly petitioned the state Supreme Court for a separate ruling on his case.
