Wärtsilä 3Q-2014 Profits Dip Year-on-Year

Mainly diesel-powered marine-engine and power-generation specialist Wärtsilä announced Oct. 23 that its third-quarter (3Q) profits before taxes slipped to €129 million (US$163 million), from €136 million (US$172 million) in 3Q 2013.

‘Kemper’ IGCC Costs Rise Again; Start-Up Delayed to Mid-2016

Mississippi Power Co. (MPC) revealed Oct. 28 in an “8-K” filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that costs of its nearly complete, 585-megawatt “Kemper” integrated-gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) project have now soared to $6.1 billion—more than double the original cost estimate.

REG Completes Iowa Biodiesel-Plant Upgrades
